I’ve been meaning to get on a JL beat for a while now and this joint makes the wait worthwhile. The intro to the song is really just a less eloquent interpretation of this brilliant C.S Lewis quote that I came across after I wrote/recorded the song...“Critics who treat ‘adult’ as a term of approval, instead of merely a descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these are the marks of childhood and adolescence.”. Word. The “kids” I’m referring to in the chorus could mean the obnoxious teenagers in the car at the start of the first verse or it could refer to the supposedly “mature” type of guy near the end of the second verse who prefers to solve things through aggression. Go downtown after the bars close and you’ll see exactly who I’m talking about.
