As a guy with a university education in politics, culture and media and a less-formal education in human behaviour and psychology, I’m comfortable saying that I’m not a huge fan of our factory-like “system” and the way we pump our kids through school just so they can work harder for less. Although I can see the irony in the fact that my education helped me formulate this opinion, my issue isn’t with the schools perse, but moreso the “going to school = dream job & life bliss” approach that our kids are bombarded with the second they enter a classroom, - even though 53.6% of recent graduates are jobless or under-employed while tuition prices continue to skyrocket (AP). It just doesn’t add up. We spend our entire lives being told what to do (and how to do it) and if we don’t take some ownership ourselves then we can spend our entire lives having someone else do our thinking for us. My advice? There’s no standard blueprint for achieving your dreams and what worked for someone else might not work for you. Just do what makes you happy and follow your OWN path!
