When I first got into hip-hop and started writing lyrics, I always thought that my white skin and small town middle-class upbringing were setbacks and obstacles that hindered my “image”. However, as I grew up and evolved – just like hip-hop has - I began to realize that it always has been and always will be about one thing; the culture. In that sense, I try to embody the energy of hip-hop completely and realize that there’s no right or wrong way to “do” hip-hop, there’s just different ways. In the end, it’s all hip-hop, and royceBIRTH is a guy that represents it to the fullest so I’m grateful he was able to bless this track.
